Aftercare guides
If you have had one of our treatments, or you are thinking about it, please take a moment to read the aftercare advice, it is important that you become fully aware and understand what should be done by yourself both before and after a treatment in the interest of your personal health, safety, well-being and to ensure you get the best results. Ensuring you read this, will also maximize and prolong the benefits of your treatment. If you have any questions, comments or worries, please contact us straight away.
FACIALS
It is normal to experience a break out post facial so do not stress! Some of our Dr Spiller facials you may experience some redness, flaking and dryness.
Avoid picking at your skin.
Avoid wearing make-up for at least six hours after a facial treatment.
Always remove all traces of make-up at the end of the day.
Drink plenty of water (we recommend 6-8 glasses per day).
Eat a healthy, balanced diet – include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables.
Do not undertake any other facial skincare treatments within 48 hours of having a facial.
Avoid sunbathing for up to 12 hours.
Avoid direct heat, such as saunas, hot baths, showers or a hot hairdryer.
Do not apply perfume or perfumed products to treated area within 48 hours of having a facial.
Stay away from direct sunlight/sunbeds and heat e.g. saunas for 48 hours after having a facial.
Do not apply any other exfoliating skincare products for 72 hours after having a facial.
Always use an SPF sunscreen to block ultraviolet B rays.
POWERLUX SKIN TREATMENTS
Pre treatment
A consultation and test patch will need to be performed prior to ensure a safe and effective treatment is performed
Any form of tanning such as solarium, sun, spray or fake tan 1 month prior to and in between treatments is prohibited.
Prescription strength exfoliants are prohibited 2 weeks prior to treatment
Clients using Rosex, Rosaderm or Vitamin A need to stop 2 weeks prior to treatment
If any photo sensitising medication (either prescription or herbal) are taken during the course of the treatment it is essential to advise your therapist
Post treatment
Treated area will feel like mild sunburn
Apply post chilled gel to soothe & heal treated area
Use a cool compress to sooth and calm redness
Avoid excessive exercise, saunas, swimming, spicy foods, alcohol and any other activities that may raise body temperature for 24 hours following the treatment
Avoid abrasives or exfoliants for 1 week post treatment
The daily application of SPF30+ sun block to sun-exposed areas is necessary
Expect swelling the next day for redness reduction treatments
Expect darkening/grazing from skin tone correction treatments
SKIN NEEDLING
Following your Skin Needling treatment, you can expect some redness and slight swelling around the areas that have been treated. Your skin may feel warm to touch, like a mild sunburn sensation. Three to five days after your Skin Needling procedure you may notice that your skin becomes a little dry and flaky. This is a completely normal process due to the dead skin cells being stimulated upwards. Follow product aftercare recommendation provided by your therapist.
Avoid Sun exposure for one week, protect your skin and wear a hat
Avoid make up for 12 hours
Avoid activities that will make you sweat for 12 hours
Prior to and immediately after Skin Needling procedures you should avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen, as they will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is needed for optimum skin rejuvenation.
Drink plenty of water
DERMABLADING
Avoid the use of saunas or steam rooms and don’t engage in any strenuous exercise for 24 hours
Avoid using any products on your face which contain exfoliating ingredients for 24 hours to avoid irritating your skin any further
Do not wear any makeup for 12 hours
Do not rub your skin dry, instead pat it gently
Avoid the use of any harsh cleaning products
Avoid using a washcloth, instead just use your clean fingers to cleanse your face
Steer clear of direct sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment and then use a high factor sunscreen (SPF 30+) to protect your delicate facial skin
Follow recommended home-care advises by therapist
BROWS
Pre treatment
Do not use waterproof brow makeup for 2 days before your treatment.
Ensure your skin is free of any makeup, spray tan or moisturizers before your appointment.
Advise us if you have any allergies.
Post advice
Avoid wetting your brows for the next 24 hours.
Keep your brows free of any products or makeup for 24 hours to create the best skin stain.
When cleansing your face, wipe around your brows to get the longest lasting skin stain.
Use the recommended aftercare and do not use oil-based products over your brows.
Avoid using exfoliants, topical acne medications, resurfacings serums or lightening products like alpha hydroxy acids, retinol, etc on or around the brow area as they will strip the brows of their colour.
When swimming apply a little oil or barrier cream to your brows to stop the chlorine and salt from prematurely lightening your brows.
LASH LIFT
Pre treatment
Please arrive to your appointment with clean eyes and all eye makeup removed.
Do not curl your eyelashes or wear waterproof cosmetics for a minimum of 3 days prior to your service. Waterproof products are drying and leave a waxy barrier on the lashes regardless of how well they are washed.
Do not wear contact lenses to your appointment.
Do not spray tan 48 hours before your lash appointment.
Post-Treatment
Do not get your lashes wet or apply any cosmetics for 24 hours after Lash Lifts, as it will neutralize the chemical process and leave you with flat lashes. This includes showering, saunas, steam, sweating, and crying.
Keep your lashes looking neat and tidy by gently brushing through them with a disposable mascara wand in the mornings, after getting them wet, and generally as needed.
All makeup, makeup removers, cleansers, creams, serums, lotions, and treatments around the eye area must be OIL-FREE.
Schedule your Lash Lifts every 6-8 weeks.
IPL HAIR REMOVAL
Pre treatment
A consultation and test patch will need to be performed prior to ensure a safe and effective treatment is performed
Any method that removes the hair follicle such as waxing, plucking, threading, epilating etc. is prohibited prior and during treatments
Any form of tanning such as solarium, sun, spray or fake tan 1 month prior to and in between treatments.
Shave the area the day before or morning of the treatment
Throughout treatments, shaving, clipping or the use if depilatory cream is allowed
Prescription strength exfoliants is prohibited 2 weeks prior to treatment
If any photo-sensitising medications (either prescription or herbal) are taken during the course of the treatment it is essential to advise your treatment provider
Post treatment
Treated area will feel like mild sunburn
Apply post laser gel to soothe and calm redness if necessary
Avoid excessive exercise, saunas, swimming & spa for 24hrs
Avoid abrasives or exfoliants for 1 week post treatment
Application of SPF 30+ daily to sun-exposed areas is necessary
Advise your therapist no later than 10 days for face and 3 weeks for body, post treatment if any area has been missed (if hair has not fallen out)
